Slanted Magazine & Weblog

Slanted is a magazine and weblog about typography and design, published by MAGMA Brand Design from Karlsruhe, Germany. Founded in 2004 it has grown into one of the most important design portals and discussion forums in the German speaking area. The blog reports on international design trends, possessed by the zeitgeist of design and typography.

Published quarterly, the Slanted magazine, launched in 2005, complements the blog by bringing together typography with graphic design, illustration and photography as a reaction towards the shifting of borders and the transcending of categories. Each issue of the magazine is dedicated to a special (typographic) topic. Slanted’s experimental approach to typography is influenced by the participation of many of the people contributing to the blog and magazine.

Horst und Edeltraut

Horst und Edeltraut

What’s the story… # Horst and Edeltraut was created at the end of 2008 by Fashion & Design Management students at the Akademie Mode und Design in Berlin. The corporate communication agency muehlhausmoers supported the group and helped to enable the project. Soon the magazine’s 1st print issue was released during Berlin’s Fashion Week in January 2009.

Two of the students, Cosima Bucarelli and Johanna Moers, took over in 2010 and started to develop the project further, independently. They launched a blog and released #Horst und Edeltraut‘s second print edition – available since November in many stores across Berlin and around the world (order it here), where a growing number of fans and follower get their regular updates on emerging trends in culture, art, fashion, design, music and much more. This fabulous new website went online a couple of months ago, leaving the girls time to plan the next print edition, which is under way – stay tuned!

SLEAZE

tl_files/images_partner/sleaze-logo-240x180px.jpg

SLEAZE

SLEAZE is a German print magazine broaching contemporary and timeless issues, but standing out from the crowd by illustrating their topics with a special sense of humour and exceptional, sometimes rough graphics. Focus points of SLEAZE are urban art and tattoos, politics and economies, music and literature, youth and movement.

SLEAZE was developed as a magazine from freethinkers for freethinkers, driven by frustration about the humourless and superficial analogousness of other magazines. For instance, their graphic often and deliberately challenges specific stylistic norms.

As a matter of course, the magazine thereby breaks taboos. They always intend to provoke a little but never in a tense way. Authenticity is not so important, ignoring stilted ados all the more.
