Grit New York
Collective style Mash Ups from the city that never sleeps
We are proud to welcome Grit New York at BLOOOM. Grit New York is an artists collective out of New York City. Grit splices an eclectic mix of up-and-coming artists along with more established artists from the five boroughs to develop a contemporary snapshot of the subversive animal genius that is New York’s street subculture. Mirroring the street’s constant flux the collective does not adhere to any one style—flexibly evolving to record and rebroadcast a concrete echo of the streetscape’s unconventional and gritty pulse.
Specially for BLOOOM, Grit New York is showing selected works from Anton Perich, Casey Diskin and Ricky Powell, along with several other New York City based up-and-coming artists.
Be part of the art!
Popjugend turns objects into artworks at this year’s BLOOOM and you are able to join
Popjugend is a spin-off from Shop Around – a participant of this year’s BLOOOM. Popjugend is all about pop- and youthculture and the crossover between illustration and art.
At the BLOOOM they invite everybody to take part in their exciting project “Popjugend shows character”. It bases on the idea of transforming everyday objects into great pieces of art.
With the contribution of Popjugend the booth of Shop Around becomes a stage of live creation. Be there when pieces of wood become robots and skateboards morph into monsters.
And best of all: you can bring your own stuff and find out what the Popjugend guys create out of it.
Become part of this fancy project by visiting the BLOOOM page on facebook and post a picture of your favourite object to be turned into character. How about giving an inspiration to Popjugend?
Artists Anonymous
“A like Art, R like Riot , T like Time, I like Intensity, S like Science, T like Telepathy, S like Snakes. A like Abnormal, N like Narcotics, O like Oxygene, N like Naked, Y like male DNA, M like Mutation, O like Octopus, U like Unique, S like Sex“ A.R.T.I.S.T.S A.N.O.N.Y.M.O.U.S
It's all about a group of young painters, photographers and filmmakers from Berlin who gave up drugs and started working together on a permanent base of creativity. The result is an expressive and impressive art that inspires many people with its strong messages. “We’re anonymous not because we want to be anonymous as artists or people but because we want the work we create to be anonymous and free from assumptions that viewers might make from meeting anyone of us individually." We are glad having them at BLOOOM 2011 and we are sure that their art will inspire YOU!
Senso Unico
When two creative people from two different worlds of the creative scene come together, unique things can be the result. The two we are talking about will be part of this year's BLOOOM: The international award-winning filmmaker, screenwriter and director Levent Semerci (Levidi) is a master of the aesthetic image. The other – Mihael Toekgoezoglue (Mika) – artist of the needle and thread. Together they make movies and fashion, or simply SENSO UNICO
At BLOOOM it comes to fashion: old uniform and suit fabrics from the 20s to 70s are mixed with current basic stuff for a mashup of 40's street style and middle-east-inspired world fashion. Made for international artists and fashion conoisseurs who want to dress differently.
INFART
We set a high value in supporting young art projects such as INFART COLLECTIVE: Infart Collective organises exhibitions and events that aim to promote urban culture- related contemporary art in a non-conventional way. The Infart project was born in 2007 with two flash editions that saw the participation of some of the best emerging Italian street culture artists. Both of the two editions of the event were organised in pure underground style in a private home in Cittadella (Padova), that was made available for association through the whole weekend. The building was emptied out and turned into a 360 degrees art object for a selected number of amateurs and connoisseurs to enjoy some of the best street artists’ work realised directly within the architecture. The experiment did work indeed and the results were astonishing: within a very short time Infart was well known all over Italy. The Infart Collective, raised the bar and decided to involve the most established artists both in the national and European street culture scene for 2008: this is The Third Infart, a nationwide event with European guests, two public locations and a month long exhibition at the Civic Museum of Bassano del Grappa.
Arty Farty Gallery
One of the Cologne based participants is the extrordinary gallery Arty Farty.
We asked about their intention. That`s what they say:You come in and the world turns: Arty Farty is a gallery that actually is no gallery and that`s why art is completely absorbed in it. Art changes the perspective on the present world and transforms the observer to another. Nowhere else that works better now than in Cologne at Arty Farty, a place where art says hello to the haze of night. If the sun shines outside, the works at Arty Farty seem to be alone. Wonderful things happen conspiratorial in the basement beneath the city, where those lurking, those who believed to have lost their fait
TRAFFIC GALLERY
We are pleased to introduce you another great BLOOOM exhibitor:
The TRAFFIC GALLERY. They will present unique artists at this year´s BLOOOM.
One of them is MARIUSZ WARAS aka m-city. M-city will create an exclusive work for BLOOOM that we all are really exited about. His special style gives YOU the chance to see the world from another perspective. " The work will refer to the isometric axonometric representation of buildings and architecture that are part of the imaginary figurative of the artist born and residing in that area of northern Poland called Tri-City: Gdnya, Sopot, Gdansk.!"
We are sure that you will love it!

Dennis McNett
BLOOOM Proudly presents: DENNIS MCNETT, one of our this years BLOOOM participants who shows us exciting and unexpected worlds in his art projects. In his 18 year long phase of creativity he has been influenced by the 80´s skateboarding and Punk-rock scene of New York. In his artworks you can often see dragons and other creatures with a super detailed ornamentation. Graphics, sculptures, larger than life sculptures and masks are usual for his amazing Artworks. But even flash-mobs and huge happenings are part of his art. Dennis McNett has been known among other things like his unique snowboards which he designed for the manufacturer NITRO. Besides working for the company VANS, he recently designed a movie-like window display for Barneys. With a huge and super detailed viking-dragon-parade-ship made in the typical DENNIS MCNETT style, he was an absolutely great eye-catcher at the this years Chelsea parade in NYC.

BLOOOM is for me…
Art does not increase our theoretical knowledge about the things. It tells us nothing and it justifies nothing. Art only, can le us know about reality, about the world and about ourselves. BLOOOM shows us that we can meet art not only there where we would usually expect it. Finding new sites of art repeatedly, that is my job as a curator of BLOOOM. There are not many jobs in the world that are so exciting.

BLOOOM is for me...
BLOOOM is a road that links the contemporary world to the future, where young and rebels have their chance.
BLOOOM Award by WARSTEINER winner presents his works at the Strychnin Gallery
In 2010, Stefan Fromberger took second place in the BLOOOM Award by WARSTEINER creative competition. His prize: the work he submitted is now part of an exhibition at a renowned gallery. His big show will be at the Strychnin Gallery in Berlin from July 15 to August 7, 2011. The “Gentle Giants” exhibition, showcasing innovative robot-based artistic creations, focuses on the human characteristics given to machines as a way of enriching society. Often thematized in literature and film, robots have also found their way into the visual arts. Once they were primarily artificial working devices, a cross between man and machine. Today they exist in every conceivable form and for every purpose. They are no longer just useful tools, but also endearing helpers and friends to human beings. They are all subject to the unstoppable course of progress and the spirit of the times, which force them to constantly keep evolving.
Fromberger’s sculptures are inspired by science fiction, comic books and the technology of the future. His hybrid creatures, alternating between humans, animals and robots, belong to the tradition of Michael Salter, Himatic, Doktor A and many others who will also be represented in the exhibition. In 2011, the second-place winner of the BLOOOM Award by WARSTEINER can also look forward to an exhibit of his or her submitted work and a trip to the Art Paris show, while the first-place winner will receive a one-year mentorship and a trip to Art Basel Miami Beach.
In addition, the works of the ten finalists will be displayed at BLOOOM – the creative industries art show. (October 29 – November 1). In this way, the BLOOOM Award by WARSTEINER offers young artists and artist collectives a good opportunity to position themselves on the professional art and creative market. This year, artists and creative professionals living in the Netherlands will also have the opportunity to apply. Applications can be submitted to www.blooomaward.de until July 31, 2011.
